AIEMnet commenced the very successful Trade and Leadership Engaging National Training Program (TALENT) in 2005. AIEMnet recognises and thanks Downer as the major sponsor of the TALENT program.

This program is designed to connect our youth during their senior schooling to the trades in the local engineering and manufacturing sectors. Our experience proves that the successful applicants of the TALENT program will become tomorrow’s apprentices and our future leaders of industry.

The AIEMnet TALENT program represents a partnership between MRAEL, Wide Bay TAFE, local industry and numerous high schools and colleges and is a blend of work placement, training and education in the engineering and manufacturing sectors.

During years 11 and 12, successful applicants of the TALENT program undertake a School Based Traineeship through MRAEL plus work placement and training towards a Certificate II in Engineering while continuing in their schooling to achieve their Queensland Certificate of Education at end year 12. TALENT students must be prepared to give up a major portion of their school holidays over the 2 years and will be placed in a variety of engineering and manufacturing companies during that time so they receive a “well rounded” knowledge and understanding of what the engineering and manufacturing sector can offer. The students are also paid for this time whilst in industry.

AIEMnet is extremely proud that their TALENT program which   has been universally recognised by a range of government and industry bodies and the program is expanding to other locations during 2012 and beyond.

NOTE: Expressions of Interest (EOI) are sort each from YEAR 10 students in Bundaberg, Gympie and Maryborough and close in November.
